Psalm 23:1
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

All this made David think. God was like a shepherd. God was like a guide. God was a good friend. David put these ideas into Psalm 23. Many people know this psalm better than they know than any other psalm. It has given help to millions of people. This is because Jesus said that he was the shepherd in the psalm. If we believe in Jesus, we become one of his sheep. We can say, “The LORD is MY shepherd.”

1. You Will Never Fall

Psalm 23:1
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd." What condescension is this, that the Infinite Lord assumes towards his people the office and character of a Shepherd! It should be the subject of grateful admiration that the great God allows himself to be compared to anything which will set forth his great love and care for his own people. David had himself been a keeper of sheep, and understood both the needs of the sheep and the many cares of a shepherd. He compares himself to a creature weak, defenceless, and foolish, and he takes God to be his Provider, Preserver, Director, and, indeed, his everything.

The shepherd leads the sheep to all that they need: food, rest and water. Jesus leads his people to all that they need. Remember - what we NEED is not always what we WANT.

2. The Lord will guide You in the Path of righteousness

Psalm 23:3
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

God is like a guide. We do not know who led David to Barzillai. There was a guide. Just as the old shepherd Barzillai made David think about God, so the guide made David think about God. Some Christians think verses 3 and 4 are also about the shepherd and his sheep. Others think that it is about a guide. That guide led David through the wild places to where Barzillai lived. The two ideas are true. GOD IS LIKE A GUIDE. GOD IS ALSO LIKE A SHEPHERD. The valley of the River Jabbok was very dark. But with God as guide and shepherd David was safe. God brought David through the shadow of death. He will do the same for us - if we believe in Jesus. We must all die. It is a great help to know that:

3. The Lord will fill your cup runneth over before your enemies

Psalm 23:5
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Our Almighty Lord will prepare dinner before your enemies and anoint you with oil You Cup runneth over. He will surely do for you in coming days fear not you life will becomes flourish. You search you enemy but you cant find. Our Lord of hosts never leave you let down. he will be with you always he will fight for you. You need to do just one thing Accept Jesus will be a your Shepherd. You shall not want, he will guide you, he will bless you. Amen
